Last week my Daughter and I flew to Charleston, SC for college move-in. Everything worked out, she is all settled-in and started school. With a few hours to spare on my last day, I made a trip to the USS CV-10 Yorktown aircraft carrier museum.
This aircraft served in WW2, in Korean War and in Vietnam War. It’s purpose is sad, but such is history.
All aircraft showcased, except F14 Tomcat, were those which served from this carrier. I enjoyed touring it from engine room, to the top of the island, and comparing the experience to USS CV-41 Midway in San Diego, CA.
Before entering the CV-10, on the shoreline there is a very well done Vietnam War exhibit with helicopters, an army base and even a PT boat.
Highly recommended to visit if you are in town!
