This weekend was a low pressure, low ceilings VFR, windy and bumpy. Due to maintenance and weather, I couldn’t fly my aircraft for over a month, so I was excited to finally get into the air. Aircraft performed flawlessly, I did 10kt+ crosswind component landings and enjoyed hours in the air!!
To increase situational awareness and safety, I installed a Dynon D3 Pocket EFIS. It is a portable unit which is installed non-permanently into the aircraft. It has an internal IMU, internal backup battery and two GPSes which correct for drift. Not IFR certified, but good to have in case of an inadvertent flight into instrument conditions or night VFR flight.
