Another weekend project, this time Honda Grom. Todo: remove oil spinner, install high flow oil pump with rear pickup, install 60% over clutch springs and billet lift plate with six bolts, and a Kitaco clutch cover with cartridge oil filter. This will make oil changes a 5min job, will flow 30% more oil for better cooling and no oil starvation when front wheel is off the ground!! Clutch upgrade fixes OEM’s slippage. Spinner removal saves 2.5lb!!
followup:
I primed the new oil pump, primed the oil cartridge well and got oil pressure inside the intake valve rocker within 3sec!! no dry starts here! Bike is a bit snappier with 2.5lb of spinning mass removed but nothing significant. It did require a bump in idle speed due to less flywheel mass. This was an ease of maintenance and increased reliability upgrade - mission accomplished. I did fail at not tearing the new case gasket. Torn below oil line so it seeps :( Ordered a new one :)
