#Honda #Grom seat is quite uncomfortable and this weekend I fixed it. I used an aftermarket high-grip skin and a 2.5cm thick gel pad. I also re-profiled the seat to round out an annoying ridge between front&back. I was hoping for a straight across shape (motocross style) but didn’t have foam + hotwire to build it up. It looks 8/10, high grip, and comfort got a big upgrade. Not bad for a first attempt.
followup:
Manual stapler didn’t work out, 80% of staples would deform instead of going in cleanly. I ended up using short pan head screws instead to hold the skin in place. Also, the skin has been sewn for original seat profile which I modified, so while I managed to not get any wrinkles, the skin is not tight against the seat pan in all places. Most importantly (since when I use the seat I can’t see it) it is much more comfortable now :) I call it a success.
